Science Program In Your School Mexico Academy of SciencesA nine-year existence, the program Science in your School of the Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC) benefited nearly eight thousand teachers who have received training to better teach their students in the areas of science and mathematics.

In a ceremony held at the Auditorium “Galileo Galilee” of the AMC which was attended by over 400 people were given diplomas for the 2010-2011 cycle of more than 130 graduate primary school teachers and 151 secondary schools attached to 257 .

To deliver the diplomas are attended by Maestro. Rene Franco, director of innovation programs of the SEP in Mexico City; Sofia Size Ludlow, CEO of Reeducation as well as the coordinators of the program in their classroom and distance learning modalities, Silvia Romero and Carmen Villavicencio, respectively.

In these nine years of hard work, the Mexican Academy of Sciences in coordination with the Federal Educational Services in the Federal District Secretariat of Public Education, CONACYT and the Foundation Televise Becalms and the National Council for Educational Development (Conifer) has made significant progress in a new way of disseminating science and mathematics among children and young Mexicans and abroad through the training of teachers.

With regard to the international level, AMC expanded its field of operation and now has the participation of teachers from other nations in the science program at your school in the remote mode.

Through a collaboration agreement between the Mexican Academy of Sciences and six academies of sciences in Latin America such as Guatemala, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Venezuela, the dissemination of advances in mathematics and, while it strengthen teaching and learning processes of science out of our country with a distinctly Mexican program.

In the period 2010-2011, the AMC also promoted the approach to science teachers through various activities such as camp closed course in Tlaxcala, an initiative supported by Becalms and attended by 130 teachers.

For teachers who could not attend this camp was offered in the premises of the AMC course “Educational Robotics”, taught by Dr. Enrique Ruiz-Velasco.

Science in Your School is a program that began in 2002 and seeks to link researchers and professors of higher education teachers in primary and secondary schools to raise standards of teaching science and mathematics, is one of the three programs on teaching these areas of knowledge within the Americas and the only one working in teacher training secondary teachers.

Science in your school has achieved transcendent, as the participation of six thousand 186 teachers in the form of face and, since 2009, in the distance mode has benefited 800 thousand teachers.

René Rodriguez Franco, director of Educational Innovation Program of the SEP in Mexico City, attended the ceremony, said Saturday after 32-long graduate, primary teachers should convey their knowledge with new strategies learned in the course.

“We must close the circle in their classrooms with the same enthusiasm to instill in their students the excitement of addressing issues of science and mathematics, areas which are not only taught to read but by observing, manipulating, experimenting, but all share.”

Asked teachers to become advocates of such formulas which help develop skills training, involving colleagues of this successful strategy.

He thanked the Mexican Academy of Sciences, Becalms, Proeducación the Delegation Miguel Hidalgo for their cooperation and willingness to carry out the diploma.
